Canter's career path has been anything but conventional. After years of chasing the dream on mini-tours, he finally broke into the world's top 100 in 2022. LIV Golf offered a transformative opportunity, and he seized it. "LIV accelerated my learning and relieved the pressure," he says. "I discovered new aspects of my game."
And this is the part most people miss: when Canter returned to the DP World Tour, his game flourished. He won two championships and earned spots in The Players Championship and The Masters. "An unbelievable experience," he recalls. "Two poor results, but the journey was incredible."
But here's the controversial twist: Canter chose to stay with LIV and the DP World Tour, rejecting the American dream. "My family comes first," he insists. "Living in Dubai suits us perfectly, and I don't see us uprooting to America anytime soon."
The Majesticks GC, co-captained by Westwood and Poulter, see Canter as a valuable asset. "He's shown resilience and improved his game," Westwood praises. "We're thrilled to have him."
Canter's plan is clear: play a limited schedule, including the PGA Championship and The Open. "I want a decent schedule, and I'm excited to take advantage of the opportunities," he says. "I aim to keep my world ranking and stay involved."
However, there's a catch: LIV's fines for playing on the DP World Tour could cost Canter over £1 million. "It's a big financial penalty," he admits. "I'll need to consider my options as the year progresses."
As the 2026 season began, Canter aimed to prove his worth. So far, his results haven't matched his progress, but he remains optimistic. "I have a great support system," he says. "It's up to me to make the most of this chance."
